Beginner Pickleball
Never played before? Arroyo Grande has several ways to get started without joining a competitive game.
The Local Guide
Pickleball at the Soto Sports Complex (1221 Ash Street) is run by the City of Arroyo Grande as an organized program on four lighted concrete courts. Morning sessions run 9 AM to noon on Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday; evening sessions run 5:30 to 7:30 PM Monday through Thursday, with Tuesday and Thursday nights designated for advanced play.
Your first session is free. After that it's $3 per drop-in, a $26 ten-play card, $15 a month, or $114 a year (pro-rated). Details and updates are on the city's pickleball page at arroyogrande.org.
Beginners are welcome at the all-levels sessions — the five weekly morning windows plus Monday and Wednesday evenings. Tuesday and Thursday evenings are set aside for advanced play, so newer players should start with the mornings or the Monday/Wednesday evenings.
