Beginner Pickleball
Never played before? Morro Bay has several ways to get started without joining a competitive game.
The Local Guide
Del Mar Park (3060 Ironwood Ave) has four hard courts, and open play runs every day of the week from 8 AM to noon on a paddle-up rotation — put your paddle in the line and rotate in when it's your turn. There's a suggested donation of $1–2 per player, and the daily sessions are organized through the Morro Bay Seniors pickleball program.
The courts don't have lights, and organized play is a morning affair — plan around the 8-to-noon window.
Free lessons run Saturday mornings from 8:30 to 9:30 with equipment provided, and one court is designated for novices during open play — so you can get real games in without facing experienced players right away.
