The Muni Center: Santa Barbara's Home Court

The Municipal Tennis and Pickleball Center at 1414 Park Place is the anchor of Santa Barbara pickleball: 16 dedicated hard courts with open play on courts 1–12 every day from 8:30 AM to 7 PM. Courts 9–12 are reservable from noon to 5 PM and go back to open play whenever they're unbooked. Entry is $6 per day, paid by credit card at the gate, with an annual pass available; private court rentals run $15–29 per hour.

Santa Barbara Pickleball, the local non-profit, is based at the Muni Center — it funds court maintenance and hosts charity tournaments there.

Free Courts: Pershing Park and Oak Park

Pershing Park at 100 Castillo St has eight free hard courts with lights — the biggest no-cost option in our Santa Barbara directory and one of the few places in the city to play after dark for free. Oak Park adds two free courts at 300 W Alamar Ave. Neither takes reservations; play is first-come, first-served.

Membership and Resort Play

Dynamite Pickleball runs seven lighted concrete courts at the Earl Warren Showgrounds (Gate C, 3400 Calle Real). Your first session is free, drop-ins are $10 after that, and memberships range from $25 to $149 a month with sessions organized by skill level; senior limited open play runs Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8:30 to 10:30 AM.

The Hilton Santa Barbara Beachfront Resort also rents six hard courts at 633 E Cabrillo Blvd in two-hour blocks for $38.
